Welcome Arthur Murray Montrose!

Montrose welcomes our newest merchant: Arthur Murray Dance Center!

If you happen to be walking along Honolulu Avenue Saturday night, you may have noticed a vibrant energy coming from the 2200 block. It was here that Arthur Murray hosted its Grand Opening/Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, inviting the community to take part in free dance lessons, demonstrations, hor’devours and a grand prize raffle giving away lessons at the studio. The event was well-attended, welcoming all members of the Foothill community to get to know the Arthur Murray family.

Unlike other dance centers, Arthur Murray provides you with the choice of private lessons, group lessons and practice sessions to make the learning process fast, fun, and easy! Instructors tailor their lessons to the goals of each student and work with you to achieve a suave style on the dance floor.

Owners, Erick and Katie Padilla, are grateful for the support and thrilled to open their studio in Montrose. Together, they have a combined 42 years of dance experience and have won three Professional Argentine Tango Championships and one Professional Salsa Championship.  We are committed to the well-established and long-standing excellence in service and dance instruction that is synonymous with the name Arthur Murray.  We dream of changing people's lives through dance.”

If you’ve ever wanted to learn a choreographed dance (right in time for the holidays), improve your posture and maneuver a crowded dance floor, Arthur Murray is the place for you! For more information, visit them online at arthurmurraymontrose.com.

The Montrose Fountain of Youth: Silky Skin

Life is busy and you deserve a break. Pamper yourself. Go to the spa. Rejuvenate your skin. Get a massage. Enjoy a variety of luxuries close to home. It's all right here in the Montrose Shopping Park.

This week we’re featuring a business in a lesser known part of Montrose. Nestled within the charming garden of Thompson Court, you’ll find the hidden gem Silky Skin. Enjoy the benefits of glowing skin with a Ginger Clove or Pumpkin Latte facial with Master Esthetician, Elsa McCarthy. Prepare for a warming sensation! The combination of these spices will help refine your pores and leave you with soft and exfoliated skin.

According to McCarthy, “The most popular treatment here is our Dermafile treatment with fruit enzymes. This treatment polishes the skin with a stainless steel tool and finely crushed cosmetic diamonds.” Talk about luxurious. The diamonds remove the top layer of dead skin cells to leave skin velvety smooth, fresh and rejuvenated. This treatment is effective for aging, sun damaged skin, acne scarring, pigmentation, stretch marks, fine lines and clogged pores. The best part about it… It’s a safe and holistic alternative to chemical peels and microdermabrasion.

Lastly, leave your skin looking and feeling it’s best with Premiere Collection and Skin Script skincare lines distributed exclusively at Silky Skin. Both offer a variety of cleansers and creams made with the finest ingredients for all skin types. Consult with Elsa to discover the best combination for your skin!

When you work hard and need an opportunity to unwind, Silky Skin is here for the rejuvenation you need. Your relaxation is their top priority.

Hollywood in Montrose

The Montrose Shopping Park has been an attractive location with Hollywood for many years. With its quaint shops and “Main Street” appeal, studios like that it could be anywhere in the USA. We sat down with Film Liaison Steve Pierce to get the scoop on what’s filming in Montrose and how it benefits the community.

Hugh Laurie in Montrose!

MSPA: What are some of the more notable films and TV shows filmed in the MSPA?

MSPA: What locations are the most popular?

Pierce: During my first two years, the 2200 block of Honolulu Avenue was the most asked about location for the famous Montrose Clock and Black Cow restaurant. This year it's been the 2400 block... Each year is unique and different.

MSPA: What incentives do studios and location managers have filming here?

Pierce: The film industry today is making a robust come-back with incentives to film locally and Montrose is the perfect location close to Hollywood. Location Managers find Montrose very easy to work with because of our history of qualified experience.

MSPA: How does filming benefit the community?

Pierce: Filming brings "positive notoriety" to the Montrose Shopping Park. When film companies come into Montrose it may be the first visit for many of their crew and cast members. They have a chance to visit our shops and try our specialty restaurants. Often I hear from film crews saying, "what a cute town this is," and "wow, we had no idea this place existed so close to LA," or even the question of "how much are the homes around here?" Filming bring excitement and positive energy to the town. "What's filming?" People ask. “Anyone famous here?"

If it wasn't for the special events and decorative efforts done by the Montrose Shopping Park Association, we wouldn't be that cut above the rest. Grab your camera and hit the town! You never know what will be filming here next…
